Do I need a shotgun licence?

Preferably – Please bring your licence if you have one. Guests without a licence must be supervised by a licensed holder. If your group does not have enough licence holders, you will need to arrange a supervisor/instructor in advance.

 

Do I need insurance?

Yes. Any participant taking part in clay shooting must be covered by valid shooting insurance.

Unlicensed shooters may sometimes be covered under a supervising licensed shooter’s policy, provided the supervisor is actively overseeing them and the policy allows this. Please check your policy details in advance to ensure you are covered.

If you do not already have insurance, it is commonly available through UK shooting organisations and specialist providers. Many participants obtain cover via organisations such as the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), or the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation (NGO), or through equivalent shooting insurance providers offering day cover.

We recommend arranging appropriate cover prior to your visit.

 

What equipment is needed?

We do not supply guns. All participants must wear a hat, eye protection (we also recommend sunglasses), ear defenders or plugs and gloves. Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for outdoor conditions; sturdy walking boots or wellies are recommended.

 

What cartridges should be used?

Only fibre or biodegradable wad cartridges are to be used on the estate, with a maximum load of 24-28g.

(Cartridges will be checked for plastic wads)

Please ensure you bring sufficient cartridges for the day (around 400-600 per person), as we do not hold stock on site. Cartridges can, however, be pre-ordered with us at the time of booking if required.

 

How many people can join a day?

Our days are designed for up to 12 guns and can accommodate up to 18 guests. If you have a smaller group, that’s no problem we can tailor the experience for you. If you wish to bring extra non-shooting guests, they will be charged for refreshments/catering only.

 

What are the fees?

We charge a flat rate for the day regardless of the number of guns attending up to a maximum of 12. (Additional fees apply for non-shooting guests)

 

What should I wear?

Comfortable outdoor clothing is best, along with sturdy footwear suitable for the countryside. Traditional shooting attire is optional but adds to the atmosphere!

 

Do you run events all year round?

Our season runs from February to the end of August. We do not operate during the game shooting season (September-January).

 

What happens if the weather is bad?
We operate in most weather conditions, so please dress accordingly. In extreme weather, we may reschedule for safety reasons.

 

What does a typical day include?

A full safety briefing, followed by a series of exciting drives across the estate. Refreshments and hospitality throughout the day.

 

Are groups with mixed abilities catered for?

Yes, we can adapt the experience to suit all skill levels, from complete beginners through to experienced shooters.

We can also provide tuition for those who would benefit from extra guidance, which can be arranged in advance when booking.

 

Can we personalise the day?

Absolutely. Every group is different, so we’ll work with you to create a day tailored to your needs, whether that’s extra drives, competitions, or special catering.

 

Is it safe?

Yes. Safety is our top priority. All guests receive a full briefing and are supervised by experienced staff throughout the day. You are also required to bring and wear safety equipment.
